Strašničin mravljiščar in zdravilna strašnica

Opis tipne slike:

V naravi strašnica zraste do enega metra. Ko sledimo rovu proti desni, otipamo poznejšo fazo razvoja, kjer so ličinke večje.

The scarce large blue and the great burnet

The description of a typical image opens by clicking on the Preberi več section.

On the board, the story of the development of the butterfly scarce large blue is presented. The butterfly lays its eggs on the flowers of the great burnet, from which caterpillars develop. These caterpillars are scented in such a way that ants recognize them as their own and carry them into the ant nest. There, the ants feed them until their development is complete and a butterfly flies out of the nest.

Description of the tactile image:

On the left side of the board, there are three images of the butterfly.
In the top image, an enlarged butterfly with outspread wings is drawn, as if seen from above. The wings are blue, and you can feel black patterns on them: a band along the edge of the wings and spots.

Below this image is a picture of the butterfly in profile with its wings closed. In this view, only one wing is visible, showing its underside. This side of the wing is skin-colored with black spots.

At the very bottom is an image of the same butterfly shown at its natural size.

In the middle of the board, there is a reduced image of the marsh gentian plant. In nature, the gentian can grow up to one meter tall. At the top, you can feel the flowers; moving down along the stems, you reach the leaves. At the base of the plant, you can feel the ground, and within it enlarged tunnels of an ant nest. On the ground to the left of the plant, you can feel an ant carrying a larva into a tunnel. If you follow the tunnel downward, you reach the first chamber, where you can feel small ant larvae and larger butterfly larvae. Following the tunnel to the right, you can feel a later stage of development, where the larvae are larger. Continuing to follow the tunnel upward, you reach a chamber containing the next stage of development—the butterfly pupa. A butterfly then develops from the pupa, but this is not shown in the image.

In the middle of the right edge of the board, there is also an enlarged image of an ant carrying a butterfly caterpillar.
