Potters workshop and clay pots

Potter s workshop used to be located in a seperate room in case it was within the house itself; however were cases where it was placed in the yeard in a special wooden or brick building in wich case it usually featured a large panel board with inscription on it. Pottery is considered one of the oldest crafts. Geographically and to the diversity of products, can be divided into two groups of pottery from Prekmurje: Filovsko and Goričko. Legend has it that in the late 19th Century in the village of Filovci alone there were 90 potters in that that Filovci potters were famous of their black baked earthenware. The village Kobilje, too, had a lots of potters and the last one stopped working in 1960.

The potters from Prekmurje differentiate pot by the shape shallow or deep in color black, white and colorful (decorated and glazed).
White decorated pottery was work of Adolf Hašaj from Kuzma. Hi stood out among the pottery with his products wich were recognizable and has the HA sign on the bottom of the pots. The products are the work of various potters, where we can find new technique or method with the observance of the old, while at the same time giving the old forms new content of usability.
